What Is Advanced Infection Control, and Why Does It Matter?

Every dental office is required to follow standard infection prevention guidelines set by the CDC and OSHA. These include hand hygiene, sterilized instruments, use of protective gear, and basic surface cleaning. At Aria Smile, we do all of that. And then we take it several steps further.

Our partnership with MCS means our office receives a comprehensive disinfection and protection treatment every 90 days, using EPA-registered, FDA-approved products that are non-toxic to people but highly effective against bacteria, viruses, fungi, mold, and other harmful microorganisms. Most importantly, every single treatment is tested before and after, so we always know the results.

How Our Infection Control Program Works

The MCS process is thorough, systematic, and designed to leave no corner of our office unprotected. Here’s what happens every 90 days:

Step 1

Pre-Treatment Testing

Before any product is applied, the MCS team tests multiple surfaces throughout our office for ATP (adenosine triphosphate, a marker for organic matter) and microbial activity. This establishes a real baseline measurement of our office’s cleanliness. The goal going in? Zero detectable microbial activity. The testing confirms that the previous treatment held its protection for the full 90 days.

Step 2

360° Disinfection and Protective Coating

Using an electrostatic sprayer, the MCS team applies a two-step system called PermaSafe throughout the entire office, including every surface, piece of equipment, and hard-to-reach area. The 360° electrostatic application ensures full, even coverage, no wiping required.

PermaSafe CLEAN: A broad-spectrum, EPA-registered hospital-grade disinfectant that deep cleans and decontaminates every surface. It’s FDA-approved, CDC compliant, and rated to eliminate up to 99.999% of bacteria, viruses, and fungi, including COVID-19.

PermaSafe SHIELD: Once the surface is clean, PermaSafe SHIELD is applied. It molecularly bonds to the surface and forms an invisible antimicrobial barrier that actively inhibits the growth of harmful microorganisms for up to 3 months. No harsh chemicals. No repeated exposure. Just long-lasting protection.

Step 3

Post-Treatment Testing and Certification

After treatment, the same surfaces are re-tested to confirm the results. We receive a detailed quarterly report showing microbial levels before and after, so we can see exactly how well the protection is working. If anything ever falls short, MCS stands behind their work and will re-treat the office at no additional cost.

Step 4

Dental Waterline Testing

Our dental unit waterlines are also tested regularly to ensure bacteria levels remain at or below 500 CFU/ml, in full compliance with CDC and OSHA standards. Clean water is a non-negotiable part of safe dental care, and we take it seriously.
